I Am Improving
Went round to Martin’s with my banjo and had a go at doing ‘Duelling Banjos’. I am improving and sounding much less rough now.
I remember seeing the film Deliverance in the early 1970’s and found a snippet on YouTube of the banjo playing scene, so I can use it to practice with. At least it is still there. I had to wade through some of my past links to find what had been removed after Viacom had got tough with YouTube. My post on Christmas Films needed some editing to remove now non-existent links.
Naturally, I am not just relying on ‘Duelling Banjos’ but am trying to listen to as much banjo playing as I can to help develop my style. I got a couple of CDs from the library of ‘bluegrass’ music and am playing them in the car constantly. One of them is by two of the greats of bluegrass, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Listening to them might be affecting the style of my American accent I use in Titanic for playing Astor though. “The hell it is.”
