The photographs I mentioned yesterday arrived in my inbox
today. Rather than waste the opportunity and not use them I thought I would publish them as a discrete post. They were taken early morning. A lovely still day. Little traffic at that time. You can even see a couple of ducks serenely floating south.
Observant ones amongst you will recognise the building in the background in the picture above. It is the converted warehouse I took a photo of a few weeks ago. When my colleague took this photo we were cycling over the bridge from the west into the ‘dark side’. This dividing line is what makes the people from the east of the river different. To misquote L P Hartley: ‘the east is a foreign country: they do things differently there’.
Looking south the view is dominated by the tidal barrier. An impressive
structure, but one which climate change seems to be overtaking, as it has been lowered a greater number of times in recent years. A practical example of the effects of climate change. This part of the city is packed with history as you will find out here.
Not a bad start to a day being able to cycle to work and see these views on the way. For anyone who is interested, I did geotag the pictures on Flickr if you want to see them on the map.

I must pass these views everyday. But I am in a car so never have the chance to look!
