I seem to get spam comments on posts from months ago and that post does not seem to show up on that day's statistics. I suppose the people who send them are constantly finding new ways of doing it which is perhaps why we have noticed more recently. I sometimes wonder how many 'visits' are actually just spam comment robot things. Quite a range of personal services is offered, to be fair, but I'm certainly not following the links and like to kill the comments as quickly as possible so that nobody else will.
